General about WP-Filebase

WP-Filebase’s file management

WP-Filebase uses a category/sub-category/file taxonomy. Each category can have multiple sub-categories (child categories) and files.

The file system is kept in sync with the category tree in the Database, e.g. each category has a folder containing the files and directories of all children (files and categories). This brings the advantage that you can easily add, modify or delete files directly on the file system, for example by FTP. WP-Filebase offers a function to synchronize the database with the file system, so file properties like size and hash sum get updated. (Never forget to sync after changing files with FTP!). See Sync.

Are you still supporting this plugin.

Not only has the free version disappeared for unknown reasons but I’m now reading comments from users that have paid for the pro version who are complaining of bugs and receiving no replies to their support tickets?

As an avid user of your free plugin on many of my sites I am understandably very concerned.

They blew off a ticket I submitted for a year.

I’m a long-time user of your free plugin. I have 1 dev and 1 production server, so your “personal” license is right for me. I’m quite willing to pay for the upgrade if a) it doesn’t break my installation and b) all the things you promise work as advertised. I’m not willing to pony up before I find out. It’s annoying that you’ve removed your free version, and it’s a deal breaker for me.

I’m small potatoes. Perhaps bigger customers have no choice but to go along with this but I’m using filebase in a trivial way. That means I can find, adapt or write an alternative solution. I don’t care if it costs me more in time than the license costs.

I’m happy to pay your price given both a and b are met. I’m not happy about your disregard for your potential customers.

Looks like he bailed from it.

    Hello,
I have an active license for WP-Filebase PRO.

The “File URL” function has stopped working from the icon that appears in WordPress posts.

Previously, when I clicked on the icon, and selected “File URL”, a list of categories would open up, which I could expand and select a specific file from.

Now all I see are two titles: “Select File” and “Select Category” — but they are not linked, there are no lists of files, nothing happens, nothing to click or expand.

Please help rectify this issue, as properly functioning WP-Filebase PRO is a very necessary part of our web operations.

    Thanks.

WPFilebase Pro is just what I need to manage a large number of pdf files. I’d like the pdf’s to open in a new window. I found the support documentation about adding the target=”_blank” to the template but it still doesn’t open in a new window. I could use some help.

This support is insanely slow for what you pay for.

Anyone here using Amazon S3 Extension?
I used to sync with Dropbox but at some point the security certificate would expire (“drop”) several times a day! and I needed to manually force the file sync. I am now storing files directly in the website but this is creating problems when working with staging and production environments. I desperately need to set up some external file storage system. From what i hear the Amazon S3 is the best solution.
    Any comments?

This is probably because shared dropbox links from a non-dropbox-pro Account expire in less than 1 hour. I’ll push an update for the dropbox extension that refreshes download links more frequently.
