Setup

The plugin is installed the usual way. Either upload the ZIP package in the dashboard or extract it file to wp-content/plugins with an FTP client. After activation, you will see a new sub-menu in WP-Admin menu.

WP-Filebase Pro requires you to enter your license key before you can use it. Click on the new WP-Filebase menu to activate your key. After activation the plugin is ready to use (nothing special to do after an upgrade from Free, all files and settings will remain)

Settings

Goto WP-Filebase -> Settings. In the Common tab you can adjust the Upload Path. Make sure this folder is writable for the webserver, otherwise you won’t be able to upload files. You will see a note on the dashboard screen if this is the case.
To use the search feature and category linking, it is necessary to set a File Browser Post or Page (see FileBrowser): Create an empty Page with a title like “Downloads”, then go to WP-Filebase -> Settings, click on the tab “File Browser” and select the created Post/Page. The File Browser will appear on the selected Page where users can browse through categories. This page is also displayed in search results if there are matching files.

Most settings can be changed at any time and apply for existing files. Here are some settings you might want to revise before starting uploading files because changing them later might require a Rescan.

  • Display -> Thumbnail size
  • Form Presets ->
    • Default File Direct Linking
    • Custom Fields
  • Misc ->
    • Thumbnail Path
    • Use path instead of ID in Shortcode
    • Disable Name Formatting
  • PDF (Pro only) ->
    • Generate PDF thumbnails
    • Extract PDF Title

      Hello Neijah,
      make sure NONCE_SALT is defined in wp-config.php. See //wpfilebase.com/how-tos/fix-missing-nonce_salt-warning/

    Is WP-Filebase Pro compatible with WordPress 3.6? It will install but the the management screens are blank, even the screen to enter the activation code.

    “No directories should ever be given 777, even upload directories. Since the php process is running as the owner of the files, it gets the owners permissions and can write to even a 755 directory”…. quote from wordpress at http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions
    Any comments on this?

      Permissions other than 777 has caused issues on misconfigured servers. Some users complained about uploads not working.

    Submitted a ticket for this but have yet to get a reply. Anyone know of a fix?
    Tried activating the Pro version and get this error at the top of the page.

    “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

    Warning: include_once(/share/MD0_DATA/Web/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-filebase-pro/classes/Core.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /share/MD0_DATA/Web/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/wp-filebase-pro/wp-filebase.php on line 45.”

    I have installed the free version and want to upgrade to pro version. Will all my files and categories be migrated and maintained?

    Hey there !

    I have a huge issue since I installed wp-filebase and sync the database :
    All the files suddenly return 404 errors ! Even if the whole upload folder chmod is recursively set to 777 or 755.

    File sync seems to fail as it stops at 13% or so.

    I can’t even manage to get back to normal state when I uninstall the plugin.
    I’ll be glad to have a hand on this as I’d like to avoid reinstalling the site and db.

    Thanks in advance,
    Charles

      I may also say that I have set safe values as recommended here : //wpfilebase.com/documentation/troubleshooting/

        EDIT :

        I can ideed get back to normal state if I deactivate the plugin.

        But as soon as I install/activate it back, I get 403 errors on my files and pictures.

        I’ve tried to resore wp-filebase settings with no result.

    Hi, I put a comment some days ago and I don’t see it posted or my tickets attended. I upgraded my license to the pro version but I’m still just able to use the license in 2 sites only, do I need a new licens from you? Or you just enable the unlimitd sites option to my license
